QCOSS - Website Design and Usabilty Testing

Queensland Council of Social Service (QCOSS) provides information, training, advocacy and support for community organisations across Queensland. QCOSS manages a number of websites that are valuable tools for the community sector including Community Door, QCOSS Etraining, Studio Q and Network Spaces. Feedback from members, stakeholders and Google Analytics had prompted a need for design and usability improvements across this suite of sites.

Human Creative was firstly engaged to design and facilitate one-on-one usability testing sessions over 2 days. We tested with a number of members with different computer literacy, roles and regions to ensure we obtained useful information from the sessions. The report we compiled from the testing data gave us strong direction as to how to best redesign the site for QCOSS member’s needs.

We then commenced the redesigned of the QCOSS website suite (excluding qcoss.org.au). The designs introduced a number of new features to make finding information easier such as a more intuitive Information Architecture, compliance with WC3 (WCAG 2.0) standards, implementing design consistency to make the sites feel like a family and a fully responsive design.

The website suite is currently in development with QCOSS’s in-house development team. We look forward to the launch.
